In order to optimize product performance, we have upgraded the circuit board of the AMS first-stage feeder. This upgrade will affect the AMS units that used the earliest main board.

After these AMS units are replaced with a newer version of the first-stage feeder (or the feeding funnel), they cannot be used normally due to compatibility issues. There are about 2,000 AMSs that use the earliest main board.

For those AMS units, if a new version of the first-stage feeder (or the feeding funnel) is purchased, please get in touch with the Bambu Lab Service Team, and we will send you a new AMS main board for free to ensure that you can make your AMS work. If the feeder is working as expected, replacing the board is unnecessary.

In the following article, we will explain how to distinguish the version of the AMS main board, how to apply for a new main board, and some of our requirements.

The switch version (old version) of the AMS first-stage feeders and the feeding funnels have been discontinued. All the AMS first-stage feeders and the feeding funnels that the customers can order from the official mall are the hall version (new version).

If you purchase AMS through official e-commerce platforms (Shopify) after January 1, 2023, your AMS main board will be the latest version, so you don’t need to worry about compatibility issues with AMS feeders.

If you purchase AMS through official e-commerce platforms (Shopify) between October 1, 2022, and January 1, 2023, your AMS main board is likely a new version. If you are unsure, you can follow the methods below to check the version of your AMS main board to avoid compatibility issues with AMS feeders.

If you purchased AMS through official e-commerce platforms (Shopify) before October 1, 2022, please follow the methods below to check the AMS mainboard version. If you confirm that your AMS main board is an old version, you can contact the after-sales team for assistance.

1. Different versions of AMS main board

You can confirm the version of the AMS main board by checking the appearance of the components at the R151 position in the red box below.

Old version

As shown in the figure above, for the component at the R151 position, the one with the printed number is the resistor version (old main board), and the black without number is the magnetic bead version (new main board). The following table shows the version compatibility relationship between the AMS first-stage feeder (or the feeding funnel) and the main board.

CompatibilityR151 resistor version main board(OLD)R151 magnetic bead version main board (NEW)
Switch version first-stage feeder(OLD)OKOK
Hall version first-stage feeder(NEW)NOOK

This relationship table shows:

(1) The version of the AMS board needs to be confirmed before purchasing or replacing a new version of the AMS first-stage feeder (or the feeding funnel);

(2) If the AMS main board has the R151 resistor version, it is necessary to contact the Bambulab Support Team to get a new AMS main board;

(3) If the AMS main board is the R151 magnetic bead version, it can be used normally without replacing the AMS main board.

2. Operation steps for checking the version of the AMS main board

(1) Disconnect the AMS connection and remove the PTFE tube

When the AMS is disconnected, press the button on the AMS filaments hub and pull out the PTFE tube from the back of the AMS.

(2) Loosen the AMS main frame

Remove the 2 screws with the H2.0 hex key, and then loosen the AMS main frame, avoiding the button when lifting it up.

(3) Disconnect the 2 cables, take out the main frame, and check the version of the main board

Disconnect the 2 cables on the AMS power board, take out the main frame, and confirm the version of the main board according to the appearance of the component at the R151 position on the board.

(4) Take a photo and submit a service ticket

If it is confirmed that the AMS main board is the R151 resistor version, please refer to the picture below to take a photo. It is required that the SN of the AMS main board should be clear, and it can be seen clearly whether the component at the position of R151 has numbers. Then, submit a service ticket and upload the photo and the order number of the first-stage feeder (or the feeding funnel).
Finally, wait for the Bambu Lab Support Team to process your request.

Reminder: We will keep the main board replacement records, and repeated applications will be rejected.
