What is the AMS bottom cover unit

The AMS bottom cover unit is a bottom shell of the AMS with all sealings installed.

When to use

  1. Cracked bottom cover.
  2. DOA caused by shipping, the user requires replacement of the bottom cover.

Tools and materials needed

  • New AMS bottom cover unit
  • H2.0 Allen keys

Safety warning and Machine state before starting operation

Prior to commencing with the process in this guide, please make sure the machine is switched off and the AMS is disconnected from the printer.

Operation guide

Step 1 – Remove the PTFE tube

Open the AMS cover, press the flat surround the PTFE tube outlet at the back of the AMS, and pull the PTFE tube from the back of the AMS.

Step 2 – Opening the AMS main frame

Undo the 2 screws located at the rear as shown below, and then very gently pull the main frame towards you from the back. You might need to press on the PTFE inlet flap to free the frame. Don’t pull the main frame all the way out as there are still cables attached to it.

Step 3 – Removing the main frame module

Disconnect the Bambu bus cable and the power cable from the AMS power board. You can now take out the main frame module.

Step 4 – Removing the AMS power board

Undo the 4 screws holding the AMS power board in place and then proceed to remove the power board.

Step 5 – Removing the AMS upper cover

Undo the 4 screws, 2 on each side. And then remove the AMS upper cover.

Step 6 – Installing the AMS upper cover to the new bottom cover unit

Prepare a new bottom cover unit, and place the upper cover with cover shafts on it, secure the upper cover with 4 screws.

Step 7 – Installing the AMS power board

Install the AMS power board, and secure it to the inner side of the AMS shell with 4 screws with the same orientation as shown below.

Step 8 – Installing the main frame module

Place the main frame module into the AMS shell, and connect the Bambu bus cable and the power cable to the power board.

Step 9 – Securing the main frame module

Secure the main frame module with 2 screws as shown below.

Step 10 – Connecting the PTFE tube

Check the alignment of the tube bracket at the rear of the main frame module, and push in the PTFE tube from the back of the AMS. Push the PTFE until fully secured all the way in.

How to verify completion/success

Connect the power cord, connect the AMS to the printer and turn on the power and run the load filament procedure on the AMS menu through the machine display and if no errors occur, the replacement was successful.
