Error message

“Motor-A has an open-circuit. There may be a loose connection, or the motor may have failed. “

HMS_0300_0600_0001_0001: Motor-A has an open circuit. There may be a loose connection, or the motor may have failed.

What it is

There are several current sensors on the MC board of the printer to sample the current of the motor, when the printer is turned on each time, the resistance of the motor will be detected through the current sensor to determine whether the motor is broken. If the resistance of motor is abnormally high, it is considered that the motor has an open circuit error.

The error that Motor-A has an open-circuit may be caused by the following reasons:

  1. the cable of the motor is loose
  2. the motor is broken
  3. the MC board is broken

Safety warning and Machine state before starting operation

Please turn off the printer and disconnect the AC cable during operation

trouble shooting guide

step 1 Check whether the cable of the motor is loose

First please refer to this wiki to remove the rear cover of printer and check the MC board.

step 2 Check whether it is motor failure or MC board failure

Motor A is the same as motor B, but motor Z is different, so if  HMS reports “Motor-A/B has an open-circuit”(Assume that motor A has an open-circuit):

  1. turn off the printer and disconnect the AC cable;
  2. swap the cable of motor-A and motor-B and turn on the printer;
  3. If the HMS still reports that motor-A has an open-circuit, the MC board is broken; if the HMS changes to motor-B has an open-circuit, the motor A is broken.

if  HMS reports “Motor-Z has an open-circuit”,please:

  1. turn off the printer and disconnect the AC cable;
  2. swap the cable of motor-Z and motor-A and turn on the printer;
  3. export log(https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/p1/troubleshooting/how-to-upload-log) and contact after-sales team(It may still report error because the parameters of motor-Z and motor-A are different).
