HMS_0300_0A00_0001_0004: External disturbance was detected when testing the force sensor
External disturbance was detected when testing the force sensor 1/2/3 sensitivity. The heatbed plate may have touched something outside the heatbed.

The error code below shows the same issue with different force sensors:

0300 0A00 0001 0004

0300 0B00 0001 0004

0300 0C00 0001 0004

What it is

X/P Series Printer

Before sensing the force that is applied on the heat bed, the printer with test the sensitivity of each force sensor by vibrating the hotbed up and down.

If anything touches the heat bed, the printer will get the wrong sensitivity parameters and make subsequent procedure works abnormally.

Below are the possible reasons that the printer thinks there were external disturbances occurred:

  1. Before Z-axis homing, the heat bed was stuck by something:
    • the build plate is rubbing against the excess chute
    • the build plate has contact with the inner liner of the printer
    • some stuff put on the bottom of the printer has stuck to the heat bed
  2. When measuring the force sensor sensitivity, there are significant vibrations in the environment
  3. The printer is placed on an unstable platform ( like a soft mat, or loosened table )
  4. The heated bed signal cable connector on the MC board is loose or broken;

A1 Printer

Before compensating the resonant frequency of the Y-axis, the printer tests the sensitivity of the heat bed acceleration sensor by vibrating the heating wind. If anything touches the heat bed or if the sensor itself is subjected to a force from outside the heat bed, the printer will get the wrong sensitivity parameters, causing subsequent procedures to not work properly.

Possible reasons:

1. The heat bed is stuck or has friction with the outside world during vibration, such as friction between the bottom shell of the heat bed and the Y-axis protection cover, or friction with the base plastic shell;

2. The printer is placed on an unstable platform (such as a cushioned, shaking table);

3. The shielding cable of the sensor signal cable has been damaged, resulting in serious external signal interference;

4. The signal cable of the heat bed acceleration sensor falls off, resulting in the signal cable not constantly pulling the sensor during the vibration process, resulting in the wrong signal incoming;

5. The sensor signal cable connector is loose or faulty.

Troubleshooting guide

X/P Series Printer

Step 1

Make sure that the printer is placed on a stable platform ( like a rigid table, or floor )

Step 2

Make sure the environment has no high vibrations ( like someone is hammering nails nearby)

Step 3

Lift the heated bed until it’s the same height as the excess chute, and check if the build plate has rubbed against the excess chute surface:

Check the rear edge of the build plate, to see if it is too close to the inner liner of the printer:

Step 5

Clean the bottom of the printer. The homing process may be disrupted if the heated bed moves downward and collides with a foreign object on the bottom:

Check whether the cable connecting the heating bed is in poor contact. You can press the cable in the back of the printer as shown below, then tap “Home” on the screen control screen to see if the error disappears.

Or you can remove the rear cover of the printer, and check if the heat bed communication cable shown below is loose. If it is loose, replug it.

Then power on the printer and try home again to see if this error goes away.

Step 7

Each time the Home function is performed, the printer checks the sensors. So you can tap “Home” once after each check to see if the HMS error has disappeared.

A1 Printer

  1. Please ensure that the heat bed is not stuck or rubbed during vibration;
  2. Ensure that the printer is placed on a stable surface without abnormal shaking;
  3. Remove the build plate and remove the silicone protective cover of the screw holes, expose the screw holes and remove the screws;

4. Turn the heat bed over and expose the bottom structure of the heat bed to see the heat bed acceleration sensor, and check whether the device is significantly loose or damaged.
